Hillview CC Wins IGA Team
Event - 17 under par
Jim Anthony, Chuck Wenning,
Jeff Bright and Randy Bright teamed up to win the 2007 IGA Team Championship at
Heartland Grossing Golf Links with a 17-under score of 127. The format for the
event was two best balls, gross score.
Before the scores were even
totaled, the team knew that 17-under would be tough to beat. We made so many
birdies it was unreal, stated Bright. It was windy, but we putted
lights-out! The team began the first two holes with two best ball bogeys, then
turned on the heat and never looked back. Their combined best ball totals were
68-59127. The same team members bettered their winning score from in 2005 by
four shots. They won the 2005 event with a 131.
Playing out of Hillview
Country Club, their 17-under bested the second place team of Randy Nichols,
Skip Runnels, Bill Barnes and Mike Freed by six shots. The Wolf Run GC team
posted a 133 for the day.
Tied for third place were Kokomo CC (Steve Parrott,
Torrey Guyer, Dan May, Rob Long), Golf Club of Indiana (Jerry Servies, John
Kendricks, Terry Kendricks, Larry Kadinger) and Heartland Crossing (Jerry
Crouch, Chris Nichols, Travis Yarnell, Gary Chapman) in with 136.
